2023 Program Guide

What is the Event Schedule?
- The CREATE! Arts Festival will be held on Saturday, July 22nd, 10am - 7:00pm, & on Sunday, July 23rd, 10 am – 5:30pm.
- Workshops times on both days are: 10am, 1pm and 3:30pm.
How Long Are Workshops?
- Each workshop length is max. 2 hours.
What Do I Get in A Workshop?
- Each workshop will teach participants how to create art or learn a performing art skill.
Where is the Event Location?
- The location on Saturday July 22nd is Strathcona Park, Vancouver (857 Malkin Ave. – entrance off Raymur).
- Locations on Sunday July 23rd are Parker Street Studios (1000 Parker St. Vancouver), Mergatroid Building/Terminal City Glass (1191 Parker St. Vancouver), & Georgia Art Studios (884 East Georgia St. Vancouver).
What About the Weather?
- This event is rain or shine! All workshops and art activities on Saturday are tented and Sunday’s workshops are in studios.
Before Booking, What Should I Know?
- Workshops are available for ages 5 and up, see workshop details for suitable ages of each workshop. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your workshop time to allow time to check in. Check-in tents are located on the east side of Strathcona Park on Saturday, and at Mergatroid and 1000 Parker on Sunday.(Note: check in for the Printmaking with Colours! Workshop at Georgia Art Studios is in the studio at 884 East Georgia St.)
Tickets & Refunds:
- Workshops are $35, except for the kids workshop which is $20.
- The Art! Bike! Beer! Crawl tickets are $60 (19+ only). Tickets can be purchased through our site via Eventbrite.
- Tickets can be refunded 4 days prior to the festival and are processed through point of purchase (Eventbrite).
- Participants who do not arrive at check in by their workshop start time will forfeit their ticket.
What Should I Bring?
- All materials are provided for each workshop except where noted in each workshop description. All workshops are suitable for beginners and up.
- Bring aprons or smocks to protect clothes for messy activities.
Can I Bring my Dog?
- For the safety and comfort of all, we ask that pets be left at home. Dogs are not permitted in the event site. Service animals are welcome.
What Should I Wear?
- The event is rain or shine. We strongly recommend that participants be prepared for the weather outside during their time at the festival and wear comfortable clothing and footwear, bring layers, bring water and sunscreen. Workshop areas will be tented.
- Bring aprons or smocks to protect clothes.
Parking / Transit / Biking:
- There is controlled street parking on the east side of Strathcona Park and around Parker Street Studios and Mergatroid Studios, but we encourage everyone to utilize car shares, take transit, cycle or walk to the event.
- There will be dedicated bike racks at Strathcona Park on Saturday available on a first come, first served basis along Raymur. Bring your bike lock.
Are there Washrooms?
- There will be washrooms provided on site and in the field house of the park by the playground. Washrooms on site will be gender-neutral portable structures, with one wheelchair-accessible portable washroom. Washrooms are available at studios on the Sunday.
Are There Food and Drinks on Site?
- Food will be available for purchase from food trucks on site as well as beer and wine from Strange Fellows Brewing (19+ to purchase). The whole site is licensed, non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Can I take photos?
- Prior to taking any pictures, please ask workshop instructors, assistants, and fellow participants for their consent.
- Share your photos using our official hashtag #createartsfestival
What Items are Prohibited?
- No weapons of any kind.
- No drugs and/or drug use.
- No outside alcohol or food.
- No dogs or pets allowed on site.
What is the Accessibility of the Saturday Event?
- On Saturday, the event site is on grass, gravel, and uneven terrain, there is no ramp access to the park. The open-air work setting will have ambient noise, conversational sound levels, and loud areas with the noise of food truck generators. There's a wheelchair-accessible portable washroom on site.
What is the Accessibility of the Sunday Event?
- On Sunday, each workshop is located in a different Eastside Studio. Details for accessibility are listed in the workshop details on Eventbrite.
